(MYFOX NATIONAL) - While Tiger Woods apologized Friday to his wife, family and fans for his infidelity and bad behavior, a national research firm was testing people's response to it. But did America accept Woods' apology? And who was more forgiving men or women?
Results from the national media study of 1,090 Americans conducted by HCD Research revealed that the majority of viewers, 60 percent, indicated that Tiger Woods' apology was sincere after viewing a video clip from his press conference Friday. And believe it or not, women were slightly more forgiving then men. The study showed that 58 percent of men found him to be sincere, while 61 percent of women said he was sincere.
“Our automated response curves revealed that male and female viewers’ sincerity levels were fairly consistent,” said Glenn Kessler, president and CEO, HCD Research. "The one exception occurred when Mr. Woods made comments denying the presence of any domestic violence, during which men perceived him to be less sincere than women in regard to those statements.”
Viewers were split on whether Woods' statements changed their perception of him. Approximately 52 percent reported that their perception of him had not changed; 31 percent indicated that their perception had changed in a positive way; and 17 percent indicated their perception of him had changed in a negative way.
Also, 64 percent reported that Woods' apology was sufficient.
The study was conducted Friday by HCD Research on its site, MediaCurves.com , to obtain viewers' perceptions of statements by Woods during a press conference Friday morning in response to his extra-marital affairs. To view detailed results go to: www.mediacurves.com.
